Editorial Policy
Journal of Economics, Business & Accountancy VENTURA (JEBAV)
Publisher: Center for Research & Community Service, Universitas Hayam Wuruh Perbanas Surabaya, Indonesia
1. Editorial Principles
Journal of Economics, Business & Accountancy VENTURA (JEBAV) is committed to maintaining high standards of academic integrity, editorial independence, transparency, and scientific quality throughout the publication process. The journal follows the principles and best practices of the Committee on Publication Ethics (COPE) to ensure responsible scholarly publishing.
All editorial decisions are based on the academic merit, originality, methodological rigor, relevance, and scientific contribution of submitted manuscripts. The journal provides fair and equal consideration to submissions regardless of the authors' nationality, institutional affiliation, gender, religion, or personal background.
The Editorial Board is responsible for ensuring that published articles contribute to the advancement of knowledge in business, banking, finance, management, and related disciplines.
2. Editorial Responsibilities and Independence
The Editor-in-Chief oversees the editorial process and holds final responsibility for decisions regarding manuscript acceptance or rejection. The Editorial Board and handling editors support this process by evaluating submissions, selecting qualified reviewers, and ensuring compliance with the journal's publication standards.
Editorial decisions must remain independent of institutional, financial, commercial, and personal interests. The publisher respects the editorial independence of the journal and does not interfere with decisions concerning individual manuscripts.
Editors must evaluate manuscripts objectively, maintain confidentiality, and disclose any potential conflicts of interest. Editors who have personal, professional, or institutional relationships that may compromise their impartiality must withdraw from handling the affected manuscripts.
3. Manuscript Submission and Initial Screening
All manuscripts submitted to JEBAV undergo an initial editorial screening before entering the peer review process.
During this stage, the editorial team evaluates the manuscript's relevance to the journal's focus and scope, compliance with author guidelines, originality, research contribution, methodological appropriateness, and adherence to publication ethics.
The editorial team also conducts a similarity assessment using Turnitin. Manuscripts must comply with the journal's maximum similarity threshold of 20%. Meeting this threshold does not automatically guarantee acceptance, as editors also evaluate the originality and proper attribution of the manuscript's content.
Manuscripts that fail to meet the journal's basic requirements may be returned to the authors for correction or rejected without external peer review.
4. Peer Review Policy
JEBAV implements a double-blind peer review system to maintain impartiality and objectivity in manuscript evaluation. Under this system, reviewers and authors remain anonymous to one another during the review process.
Manuscripts that pass the initial editorial screening are evaluated by at least two independent reviewers with expertise relevant to the manuscript's subject matter.
Reviewers assess manuscripts based on originality, research significance, theoretical foundation, methodological soundness, data analysis, interpretation of findings, clarity of presentation, and contribution to existing knowledge.
Reviewers must provide constructive and evidence-based evaluations. They must also maintain confidentiality, avoid personal criticism, and disclose any conflicts of interest that may affect their judgment.
The handling editor considers the reviewers' recommendations and the manuscript's academic quality when determining the appropriate editorial decision.
5. Editorial Decisions
Following the peer review process, the editor may issue one of the following decisions:
-
Accept Submission: The manuscript meets the journal's publication standards and requires no substantial revision.
-
Minor Revision: The manuscript requires limited improvements before further editorial consideration.
-
Major Revision: The manuscript requires substantial improvements in its theoretical framework, research methodology, analysis, discussion, or presentation.
-
Reject Submission: The manuscript does not meet the journal's academic or publication requirements.
Authors who receive revision requests must address the reviewers' and editors' comments and provide a clear explanation of the changes made to the manuscript.
The Editorial Board may request additional revisions or further peer review when necessary. The Editor-in-Chief makes the final publication decision based on the manuscript's overall scholarly quality and compliance with the journal's editorial policies.
6. Originality and Research Integrity
JEBAV accepts original scholarly contributions that have not been previously published or simultaneously submitted to another journal.
Authors must ensure that their manuscripts contain accurate data, appropriate research methods, transparent reporting, and proper acknowledgment of relevant sources.
The journal does not tolerate plagiarism, self-plagiarism, data fabrication, data falsification, citation manipulation, duplicate publication, or other forms of research misconduct.
The editorial team investigates suspected violations of publication ethics in accordance with the journal's established procedures and relevant COPE guidelines.
7. Authorship and Conflicts of Interest
All listed authors must have made substantial intellectual contributions to the research and must approve the manuscript before submission.
Authors are responsible for accurately representing individual contributions and acknowledging individuals or institutions that provided additional research support.
Authors, editors, and reviewers must disclose any financial, professional, personal, or institutional relationships that could potentially influence the research or editorial evaluation.
The editorial team manages identified conflicts of interest to maintain fairness, transparency, and the integrity of publication decisions.
8. Confidentiality and Ethical Conduct
Editors, reviewers, and editorial staff must treat submitted manuscripts and related communications as confidential information.
Individuals involved in the editorial process must not disclose unpublished materials, research findings, or manuscript details to unauthorized parties.
Reviewers and editors must not use unpublished information obtained during manuscript evaluation for personal research, professional advantage, or other purposes without appropriate authorization.
The journal requires all parties involved in the publication process to uphold ethical conduct and respect the intellectual property rights of authors.
9. Corrections, Retractions, and Editorial Complaints
JEBAV is committed to maintaining the accuracy and integrity of the scholarly record.
When significant errors or ethical concerns arise after publication, the Editorial Board evaluates the circumstances and determines appropriate corrective action.
Depending on the nature and severity of the issue, the journal may issue a correction, expression of concern, or retraction in accordance with relevant COPE guidelines.
Authors and readers may submit editorial complaints or appeals regarding manuscript decisions, publication procedures, or suspected ethical violations. The journal evaluates such requests fairly and considers supporting evidence before reaching a decision.
10. Editorial Accountability and Continuous Improvement
JEBAV regularly evaluates its editorial practices to maintain the quality, transparency, and effectiveness of its publication process.
The Editorial Board seeks to improve manuscript evaluation, reviewer selection, publication ethics compliance, and scholarly communication in accordance with developments in academic publishing.
Through these commitments, JEBAV aims to maintain a credible and responsible publication platform that supports the dissemination of high-quality research in business, banking, finance, and management.
