Journal of Economics, Business & Accountancy Ventura
1. Policy Statement
Journal of Economics, Business & Accountancy Ventura (JEBAV) is committed to preserving the accuracy, reliability, transparency, and integrity of the scholarly literature.
The journal recognizes its responsibility to address errors, inaccuracies, and research integrity concerns that arise after publication.
JEBAV follows relevant guidance from the Committee on Publication Ethics (COPE) and adopts appropriate procedures for issuing corrections, expressions of concern, retractions, and other post-publication updates.
The purpose of these actions is to maintain an accurate and trustworthy scholarly record rather than to penalize authors.
2. Corrections
JEBAV may publish a correction when a published article contains an error that affects the accuracy, clarity, or interpretation of the work but does not invalidate its principal findings or conclusions.
Corrections may address errors in statistical calculations, tables, figures, author information, methodological descriptions, references, or other substantive elements.
Depending on the origin of the error, the journal may issue the following notices:
Erratum: A correction addressing an error introduced during the editorial or publication production process.
Corrigendum: A correction addressing an error originating from the authors.
The editorial team will assess the significance of the error and determine whether a formal correction notice is necessary.
Formal correction notices will clearly identify the original article, explain the correction, and establish a permanent link to the published work.
Minor typographical or formatting errors that do not affect the interpretation, attribution, or scientific validity of an article may be corrected without issuing a separate formal notice, provided that the journal maintains appropriate editorial records.
3. Retractions
JEBAV may retract a published article when reliable evidence demonstrates that its findings or conclusions cannot be trusted or that serious publication ethics violations compromise the scholarly record.
Grounds for retraction may include:
-
Fabrication, falsification, or serious misrepresentation of research data.
-
Major errors in research methodology or statistical analysis that invalidate the findings.
-
Plagiarism or substantial unauthorized reproduction of previously published work.
-
Redundant or duplicate publication that violates the journal's publication ethics policies.
-
Manipulation of the peer-review or publication process.
-
Unethical research practices or serious breaches of applicable research ethics requirements.
-
Other serious integrity concerns that substantially undermine the reliability or legitimacy of the publication.
The journal will assess each case individually and will not automatically retract an article solely because of an allegation or an error that can be adequately addressed through a correction.
4. Retraction Procedure
When the journal receives credible information about a potentially unreliable or unethical publication, the Editor-in-Chief will initiate a preliminary assessment.
The editorial team will examine the available evidence and, where appropriate, request explanations or supporting documentation from the authors.
The journal may consult independent experts, institutional research integrity officers, or other relevant parties when further investigation is necessary.
Authors will normally receive an opportunity to respond to substantive allegations before the journal reaches a final decision.
The Editor-in-Chief will make the final editorial decision, subject to appropriate arrangements for managing editorial conflicts of interest.
The journal may retract an article without the authors' agreement when sufficient evidence establishes that the published work is unreliable or seriously compromised.
The journal will act promptly once the evidence supports a retraction decision.
5. Retraction Notice and Article Accessibility
When JEBAV retracts an article, the journal will publish a formal retraction notice that clearly identifies the affected publication and explains the reasons for retraction.
The notice will include the article title, author information, original publication details, and DOI, where applicable.
The journal will identify the party issuing the retraction and distinguish confirmed findings from unresolved allegations.
A retracted article will normally remain accessible in the journal's archive to preserve the transparency and continuity of the scholarly record.
The journal will prominently mark the article as RETRACTED and provide a direct link to the retraction notice.
The journal will not silently remove or replace a published article.
6. Expressions of Concern
JEBAV may publish an Expression of Concern when credible evidence raises serious questions about the integrity or reliability of an article but the available information does not yet justify a correction or retraction.
An Expression of Concern may be appropriate when an investigation remains inconclusive, relevant evidence is unavailable, or an institutional investigation requires additional time.
The notice will explain the nature of the concerns without presenting unresolved allegations as established facts.
Following the investigation, the journal may publish a correction, issue a retraction, update the Expression of Concern, or take another appropriate editorial action.
7. Article Withdrawal and Removal
JEBAV distinguishes withdrawal before formal publication from retraction after publication.
Authors may request withdrawal of a manuscript before formal publication. The editorial team will assess withdrawal requests according to the journal's editorial procedures and the manuscript's publication status.
Once an article has entered the permanent scholarly record, the journal will normally address serious problems through correction or retraction rather than withdrawal.
The journal will consider removing published content only in exceptional circumstances, such as a binding legal requirement, serious privacy violations, or risks of significant harm.
When removal is necessary, the journal will preserve an appropriate public notice explaining the action, subject to applicable legal and confidentiality restrictions.
8. Crossmark and Publication Record Updates
JEBAV supports transparent identification of significant changes to published articles through its publication records and, where implemented, the Crossref Crossmark service.
Crossmark enables readers to identify whether a published article has undergone a significant correction, retraction, or other formal update.
For editorially significant updates, the journal will publish an appropriate notice, establish links between the original article and the notice, and register the corresponding metadata with Crossref.
The journal will assign a separate DOI to formal update notices when required by the applicable Crossref registration procedures.
Original article records will remain traceable so that readers can identify the publication history and current status of the work.
9. Responsibilities of Authors and Editors
Authors are responsible for promptly notifying the editorial office when they identify substantive errors or serious integrity concerns in their published work.
Authors must cooperate with reasonable requests for clarification, supporting evidence, and necessary corrections.
Editors are responsible for evaluating reported concerns objectively, protecting editorial independence, managing conflicts of interest, and taking proportionate action according to the available evidence.
The journal will not delay necessary corrective action solely because an author or institution disputes the editorial decision.
10. Reporting Errors and Ethical Concerns
Readers, authors, reviewers, and other stakeholders may report suspected errors, misconduct, or other publication integrity concerns through the journal's official editorial contact channels.
Reports should identify the relevant article and provide a clear explanation of the concern, together with supporting documentation where available.
The editorial team will review credible reports and determine whether further assessment, investigation, or corrective action is warranted.
JEBAV will handle sensitive information with appropriate confidentiality and will communicate editorial decisions to relevant parties when appropriate.
11. Commitment to Publication Integrity
JEBAV is committed to maintaining an accurate, accessible, and trustworthy scholarly record.
The journal will periodically evaluate its correction and retraction procedures to ensure consistency with recognized ethical standards and developments in scholarly publishing.
