Authorship Criteria Policy

1. Policy Statement

Journal of Economics, Business & Accountancy Ventura (JEBAV) is committed to maintaining transparency, fairness, accountability, and academic integrity in determining authorship of scholarly publications.

JEBAV adopts authorship principles consistent with the recommendations of the Committee on Publication Ethics (COPE) and the International Committee of Medical Journal Editors (ICMJE).

Authorship must accurately reflect the substantial intellectual contributions of individuals involved in the research and manuscript preparation. All listed authors must accept responsibility for the accuracy, originality, and integrity of their scholarly work.

2. Authorship Criteria

JEBAV requires all listed authors to meet the following four criteria:

  1. Substantial Contribution: Making significant contributions to the conception or design of the research, or to the acquisition, analysis, or interpretation of research data.

  2. Manuscript Preparation: Drafting the manuscript or critically reviewing it for important intellectual content.

  3. Final Approval: Reviewing and approving the final version of the manuscript before publication.

  4. Accountability: Agreeing to take responsibility for all aspects of the work and ensuring that questions concerning its accuracy or integrity are appropriately investigated and resolved.

All four criteria must be fulfilled to qualify for authorship.

Individuals who contribute to the research but do not meet all four criteria should be recognized in the Acknowledgments section rather than listed as authors.

3. Author Contributions and Responsibilities

All authors must participate meaningfully in the research and manuscript preparation.

JEBAV encourages authors to provide a clear statement of individual contributions, which may include conceptualization, methodology, data collection, formal analysis, investigation, writing, critical review, and supervision.

Authors are responsible for ensuring that:

  • The manuscript represents original scholarly work.

  • Research data and findings are accurately presented.

  • Relevant sources receive appropriate acknowledgment.

  • All listed authors have approved the manuscript.

  • Potential conflicts of interest are properly disclosed.

  • The manuscript complies with the journal's publication ethics and editorial policies.

JEBAV does not permit guest authorship, gift authorship, ghost authorship, or other forms of authorship misrepresentation.

4. Corresponding Author Responsibilities

The corresponding author serves as the primary contact between the authors and the JEBAV Editorial Office throughout the submission, peer-review, publication, and post-publication processes.

The corresponding author is responsible for coordinating communication, ensuring that all co-authors approve the manuscript, submitting accurate author information, and responding to editorial inquiries.

The corresponding author must also ensure that all authors agree to the submitted version and any subsequent revisions.

Following publication, the corresponding author is expected to cooperate with the editorial team in addressing legitimate questions or concerns regarding the published work.

5. Authorship Order and Changes

The order of authors must reflect the agreement of all contributing authors and should be determined before manuscript submission.

Any request to add, remove, or rearrange authors after submission must include a clear justification and written consent from all affected authors.

The Editorial Board reserves the right to evaluate authorship changes and request additional supporting documentation.

Authorship changes after publication may require a formal correction notice to maintain the transparency and integrity of the scholarly record.

6. Acknowledgment of Non-Author Contributors

Individuals who provide technical assistance, administrative support, funding acquisition, proofreading, language editing, or other contributions that do not independently satisfy the authorship criteria should be acknowledged appropriately.

The Acknowledgments section should accurately describe their contributions.

Acknowledged individuals should provide permission for their names to be included.

7. Artificial Intelligence and Authorship

Artificial intelligence (AI) tools, including generative AI systems and large language models, cannot be listed as authors or co-authors because they cannot fulfill the responsibilities and accountability required for scholarly authorship.

Authors who use AI-assisted technologies during manuscript preparation must disclose their use in accordance with JEBAV's AI Use Declaration Policy.

Human authors remain fully responsible for the accuracy, originality, validity, and integrity of all submitted content, including material developed with AI assistance.

8. Authorship Disputes and Misconduct

JEBAV takes allegations of authorship misconduct seriously, including unauthorized authorship, omitted contributors, inappropriate authorship attribution, and disputes concerning author contributions.

The Editorial Board will assess reported concerns and may request explanations or supporting documentation from the authors.

When necessary, unresolved authorship disputes may be referred to the relevant academic institutions for investigation in accordance with COPE recommendations.

The journal may take appropriate editorial action, including manuscript rejection, correction, or retraction, depending on the nature and severity of the violation.

9. Policy Compliance

By submitting a manuscript to JEBAV, all authors confirm that they satisfy the journal's authorship criteria, approve the submitted manuscript, and accept responsibility for their respective contributions and the integrity of the published work.

JEBAV reserves the right to request an authorship contribution statement or additional documentation when necessary to verify compliance with this policy.

The journal is committed to ensuring that authorship accurately represents intellectual contributions and promotes responsible scholarly publishing.
